Meet the Governors

The Governors at Kingsway challenge and support the school in providing the best possible education for our children.  This happens at regular meetings and also when governors visit to see school life for themselves.

A variety of people become governors.  Some work for, or are connected to, the Local Authority, some come from the local community, some work on the Kingsway staff and some are Parent Governors.

Minutes of Full Governing Body Meetings are available for everybody to view.

Gail Flint – Chair of Governors

I have been a governor in Warwickshire since 2002 and Kingsway is the fourth school I have been involved with. In 2016 I became a National Leader of Governance and I provide support to other Warwickshire schools in developing the effectiveness of their governing bodies. I have two grown up sons and have spent my professional life in marketing and sales in the automotive components industry. In addition to my experience of governance I bring a broad commercial perspective to the Governing Body.

Damyanti Patel – Vice Chair & Parent Governor

I have two children at the school and have been on the governing body since 2014. During my time on the governing body I have mainly been involved in the Curriculum Standards group. I am currently Vice Chair. In my professional life I work with university libraries.

Nargis Begum – Co-opted Governor

I have been a governor at Kingsway since 2012 with a son in the school until July 2017 . Throughout my term I have brought experience, by attending regular governor training sessions, and enthusiasm to the role. I will continue to do so by attending meetings to provide a parental perspective and ensuring a clear link between parents, staff and pupils.  My main concern for Kingsway is to ensure that every child’s educational needs are met and that every child attending the school is happy. Having learnt a lot about good governance, I will continue to support, as well as challenge the new leadership as they take the school forward.

Andy Roughton – Local Authority Governor

I joined the Kingsway Governing Body in March 2014 as a Local Authority Governor. I have had the privilege to be Chair of Governors (October 2015 - March 2017) and before then I served on various committees and was Vice Chair of the Resources Committee. Having worked in schools and education for over forty years as both Senior Manager and teacher trainer, my ambition is for every child to fulfil their potential in a caring, safe and happy environment. I will do my best to help our school overcome its current challenges, ensuring that the children have the best possible education and life opportunities.

Sophie Finch – Staff Governor

I became a staff governor in 2016 as I was keen to be involved in the wider aspects of decision-making for our school. I am extremely proud of our school and I enjoy using my knowledge of our pupils’ daily lives to help the governors make decisions about the future of Kingsway. I am also one of the Designated Safeguarding Leads and this allows me to be involved in ensuring our children have the safe and secure environment they need in which to grow and learn.

Being a class teacher at the school since 2015 has given me a unique insight into the development of the school. As a governor I am more able to help shape the lives of the many children who embrace learning in school. As a parent myself, it gives me a different perspective on children and their welfare and my position at Kingsway enables me to instil crucial life skills in the children that pass through our doors.
