Eco-Schools at Kingsway Community Primary School
At Kingsway Community Primary School, we are committed to helping our children become responsible, informed and active citizens who care for their environment and understand the impact their actions can have on the wider world. Through our participation in the Eco-Schools programme, pupils have been given opportunities to investigate environmental issues, develop solutions and take positive action within both our school community and beyond.
Last Academic year, our Eco-Committee completed an Environmental Review and identified Litter and Waste as key priorities for improvement. Through assemblies, curriculum learning, pupil discussions and environmental activities, children have begun developing a greater understanding of sustainability, recycling, food waste and caring for the world around them.
Our commitment to environmental education extends beyond individual projects. Following our Eco-Schools work, for 2026-2027 academic year we have redesigned our curriculum so that sustainability, environmental responsibility and global citizenship are woven throughout learning from Reception to Year 6. New English texts, significant people studies, Geography units and the introduction of White Rose Science will provide regular opportunities for pupils to explore environmental issues, climate awareness and positive action for the future.
We want our pupils to understand that even small actions can make a difference and that caring for our school, our local community and our planet are all connected.
Our Eco-Code
Every choice we make can help our world,
Caring for our school and communities near and far.
Our actions today will shape tomorrow.
Choose to reduce, reuse and recycle,
Open our eyes to protecting people, wildlife and the planet.
Drop litter in the bin and respect all environments.
Everyone can make a difference, locally and globally.
Together, we learn, we care, we act.
We are excited to continue our Eco-Schools journey and inspire the next generation to create a cleaner, greener and more sustainable future for all.
