We are very excited for the year ahead and look forward to watching the children learn, grow and develop throughout the 2026/27 academic year.

Phonics Screening Check
In June, children in Year 1 complete the National Phonics Screening Check. The check consists of 40 words for children to read: 20 real words and 20 pseudo-words (made-up words). The pseudo-words are accompanied by an alien image to help children recognise that they are not real words and encourage them to use their phonics skills to decode them.
The screening check is designed to assess how well children can apply their phonics knowledge to read unfamiliar words.
